The English name of Singapore is derived from the Malay word Singapura
(Sanskrit: सिंहपुर, literally 'Lion City') hence the customary reference to the nation as
the Lion City.
Singapore a high PSI [Pollutants Standards Index] and a tropical rainforest climate
with no distinctive seasons, uniform temperature and pressure, high
humidity, and abundant rainfall. Temperatures usually range from 23 to
32 °C (73 to 90 °F). Relative humidity averages around 79% in the morning and 73% in the afternoon April and May are the hottest months, with the wetter monsoon season from November to January. From July to October, there is often haze caused by bush fires in neighbouring Indonesia.
Highest point is ~550ft .... half the height of Kit Hill.
Roughly twice the size of the Isle of Wight, but with 36 times the
population!!! 150,000 and 5.2 million respectively ....
It's
like an anthill here, but with no hill!!
Apartment
blocks/flats as far as the eye can see, and a maze of concrete and
tarmac at ground level. Very interesting [as all places are/can be] to
visit but NOT a place for a country boy to live long term! When I show
people photos of where I live, they almost literally freak out, because
they can't believe the space and the lack of people.
Below are a few snaps of towering blocks, taken on the first evening when I went out for a brief recce ...
